Since last month, COVID-19 cases in NM and Bernalillo county have spiked, and new restrictions and recommendations about gathering have been put in place. And, as you all are aware, winter came upon us suddenly and furiously (although also beautifully) this week. These changes are bringing changes in church practice as well.
The worship committee decided this week that due to the change of weather and COVID case increase, outdoor in-person worship will be cancelled. The church council believes it is important for us, as a public institution, to participate in the recommendations and requirements coming out of the governor’s office for the protection of everyone in our community. Any gathering of people carries risk, and we are committed to do our part to protect congregation members and reduce community spread.
We will be worshipping on Zoom for the remainder of 2020. I truly hope you will join us on Zoom for a beautiful and meaningful All Saints service on Sunday and in the weeks to come. If you do not have access to the necessary technology to participate in Zoom worship or watch the recordings on YouTube, please contact me. The council and worship committee are working on ways to make sure every person can participate in our worship in some way.
As of November 1, the church building will once again be closed, with staff working from home. No groups will meet in person at church. If you need to pick up or drop off something, you can make an appointment with Laurene, who will be in the office a few times a week. If you would like to have a pastoral care meeting or pray together in person or on Zoom, or just spend time in the sanctuary, contact me and we will make arrangements.
